There are three basic platforms on which to build a blog. There is the self hosted, wordpress.org. You can download the wordpress software for free but will have to pay to have it hosted at a hosting site such as GoDaddy or HostGator or others. This may be initially a bit more challenging to work with, but will ultimately allow you more flexibility.
Then there is the free, hosted wordpress.com. An extremely simple platform that makes for ease of navigation for your visitor (This was my personal first choice).
Last but not least, and chosen by many, is blogger.com.
It is highly recommended that at some point in time you establish a self hosted blog, but if you are anxious to get started, then by all means begin with the shorter route.
You want to make your blog as personal as possible. It is essential to offer value, but this is where you will invite people to join you and to find out more about you. Remember, the adage, that people follow leaders, not products or opportunities.
Let them into your world for a while. Discuss the problems you encountered on your internet journey, and how you solved them. Talk about your weaknesses and how you overcame them. Give details (not too deep), of hurdles you have overcome in life and how you did it. People will begin to relate to who you are as a person, and something in your story will ring true to them. Here is your connection point.
If you are going to put your videos on your blog directly, then I recommend the hosted blog. However, it is possible to put a widget, such as vodspot on a self hosted blog, if you select a theme that accommodates that widget. There are many themes to choose from and you can go through and choose one that suits your personality.
Be certain to have a picture of yourself on the home page or header of your blog, as you must remember that you are branding yourself as a leader. It is important to select one that is pleasant and relaxed, and that will welcome your visitor.
Finally, be sure you offer value to your visitor. Content is KING! If you plan on posting regularly to your blog, then offer valuable content in your post. If you are using your blog as a connection point, and are not planning to post regularly, be sure to have something of value awaiting your visitors.
The bottom line here is implementing! It is really not hard to do, so don’t procrastinate any further. Happy blogging!
